About us

The Half Moon is a beautiful Grade II Listed building in Kirdford, West Sussex, dating back to the 15th century.

Nestled in the Sussex Downs in the quintessential English village of Kirdford it truly is picture post card perfect for a spot of lunch or romantic dinner, it was lovingly restored in 2017 to its former glory.

Inside you will find a beautifully curated restaurant space full of charm and character and a bar that has hunting lodge vibes and leads onto our 50 cover south facing terrace, all of which is surrounded by a herb garden and six bed vegetable plot where our chefs use the seasons to plan their menus.

The Beginnings…

Our journey started in July 2017 when Jodie Kidd and two business partners decided to take on the beautiful Half Moon Kirdford out of their love for the Great British Pub. Fast forward 4 years and the Half Moon is now one of the places to go for good food and wine and what we believe to be pretty decent service too, we were awarded 2 AA rosettes in 2018 and have regained them four years running we have also had the pleasure to feature at Tom Kerridge’s “Pub in The Park” events from 2019-2022. Just before the pandemic struck we were also honoured to have made it to number 54 in the Estrella Damm top 100 gastro pub list.

Our ethos is simple, we source quality seasonal ingredients and using modern techniques and international flavours create dishes that are recognisable but evoke a smile, we then top it off with old fashioned hospitality where the guest is made to feel like nothing is wanted or needed for.
